Last year, audiences and critics alike went a little c-r-a-z-y over a musical comedy on The CW, and with good reason. The award-winning series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is not only funny, innovative and daring, it’s got some of the best musical numbers ever heard on the small screen. During its first season, the show had songs that were as clever as they were catchy, and barring any sophomore slump during the upcoming Season 2, it’ll still be worth singing Rachel Bloom and company’s praises.
In no particular order, these are the ten best songs from the first season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
“Sexy Getting Ready Song”
A pitch-perfect take on the overtly sexist primping and preparation women put themselves through in order to impress a dude on a date. Never mind the inclusion of the lyric “ass blood,” the real gem is the surprising and hilarious hip-hop interlude.
“JAP Rap”
Not since the Beastie Boys have Jewish rappers laid down such vicious rhymes.
“You Stupid Bitch”
At long last, an ode that’s worthy of self-indulgence and self-loathing. Easily, the most scarily relatable tune from all of Season 1.
“Heavy Boobs”
If you happen to have boobs that also have their own memoirs and weigh as much as a toddler’s head, this is pretty much your anthem. If you don’t and you’re simply an admirer, it’s educational, at least.
“Having a Few People Over”
We can all agree that Daryl (Pete Gardner) is the best part of the show, right? While it’s not as epic as the “Sexy Getting Ready Song,” this was still one of the funniest and most satisfying songs all season. Plus, it’s Daryl!

Did we mention Daryl is the best? And, truly, so is this 80’s-inspired anthem of bisexual pride.
“West Covina”
Arguably the show’s biggest earworm (aside from the peppy opening credits), it’s impossible not to get swept away in such an unabashedly Broadway showstopper.
“Flooded with Justice”
Speaking of Broadway-esque showstoppers, we couldn’t possibly forget Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s own Les Mis-style battle cry.
“After Everything I’ve Done For You”
Watching leading lady Rebecca Bunch (played by Rachel Bloom) self-destruct time and time again can be really exhausting to watch. Thankfully, we have her sassy sidekick Paula (Donna Lynne Champlin) to belt out her frustrations.
“Settle For Me”
This old-school musical throwback earned the series an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, and understandably so. This toe-tapping extravaganza all but solidified Team Greg shippers for good.
