Netflix, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Records, will bring its first-ever unscripted music series to the streaming service on November 9th titled Westside. The eight-episode series will launch globally on Netflix along with the official 20-track album WESTSIDE: THE MUSIC.
The series will explore the deeply personal glimpse inside the journeys of nine young Los Angeles-based musicians immersed in all genres of music. Each episode sheds a light on their unique creative processes and inner conflicts as they prepare an ensemble performance for a potential showcase at an L.A. nightclub.
Tom Corson, Co-Chairman and COO of Warner Bros. Records says of the show, “Westside struck me immediately as a quantum leap forward in the synergy of contemporary music with the raw vibe of today’s unscripted series innovations.” He continues, “Musical diversity as a powerful social force is the cornerstone of Westside, and nowhere is that relationship better understood than at Warner Bros. Records.”
Each episode features full-length original songs created through the collaboration between various multi-platinum producers/songwriters and the cast members. Some of the award-winning producers and songwriters on board include Diane Warren, Phil Lawrence, Robert John “Mutt” Lange, Ryan Tedder, Shane McAnally, and many more. Music videos are also interspersed throughout the series and are expertly directed by Diane Martel, Hannah Lux Davis, Sophie Muller, Tim Mattia, Sara McColgen and Joseph Toman.
So far, two singles have been released from the original soundtrack, “We Are The Ones” and “Vibe.” Both songs are now available for streaming. “We Are The Ones” features the vocals and duets of all the cast members as they sing an empowering and upbeat song about fighting against the odds in their struggle to make it as successful musicians.
