The Voice has officially entered the battle rounds, where teammates go head-to-head for a coveted position in the knockouts.
Team Blake’s country singers Taryn Papa and mother-daughter trio Worth the Wait took the stage on Monday night (Nov. 9) to trade verses and harmonies in a dynamic performance of Little Big Town‘s “Little White Church.”
Both acts showcased their powerful vocal abilities, which made it difficult for coach Blake Shelton to decide on a winner. “God, how do we even talk about this?” he pondered after the performance.
He went on to compare the two acts to contestants he had worked with on the show in the past. Papa reminded Shelton of season three winner Cassadee Pope, while Worth the Wait’s lead singer Mia’s natural talent is similar to season four winner Danielle Bradbery’s.
Shelton ended up choosing Worth the Wait as the winner, but just as Papa walked off the stage, the country superstar pressed his button to save her and keep her in the competition. “I’m not letting you leave!” he told the contestant, who was visibly shocked.
“Welcome back home,” he concluded. Watch it all go down below.
