Baseball legend Alex Rodriguez has a lot on his plate, and the most recent addition might be the added pressure to commit to girlfriend Jennifer Lopez after the release of her latest — and very blunt — single, “El Anillo.” Lopez discussed the track on Wednesday’s (May 9) episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Fallon invited the New York Yankees legend to the show on Thursday (May 10) to get his side of the story.
“We go to the studio,” Rodriguez recalled, detailing the day he first heard the track. “I read the paper and I go, ‘baby, it sounds like they’re talking about us.’ And she goes, ‘yeah, they made it for me!'”
Although Rodriguez claimed to know nothing about music, he seemed certain of one thing regarding Lopez’s latest jam: “I knew it was going to be a smash the first time I heard it.”
Rodriguez gave no further clues on when Lopez will receive her “anillo,” but he assured Fallon he’d be the first to hear the big news when the day comes.
Naturally, the late night host had to put Rodriguez (and his new line of Grand Slam bats) to the test with a game of Facebreakers. The pair took turns hitting balls in attempts to shatter glass portraits of each other. The game ended with a surprising win, as well as two lucky Yankees fans in the crowd with new souvenirs from the night.
