After testing positive for COVID-19 with his wife Rita Wilson in Australia while filming Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic, Tom Hanks returned down under and recently revealed what was happening down underneath his hat.
Hanks wasn’t reluctant to take off his baseball cap and showcase the “horrible haircut” he had to get for his film character Colonel Tom Parker, the manager who controlled every aspect of Presley’s life, while chatting on The Graham Norton Show shortly before New Year’s Eve.
“Here, let me show the horrible haircut I have to have in order to portray Colonel Tom Parker,” he said while slightly moving out of the video frame before plopping back down for a quick look. “I just scared the children. I want to apologize.”
Austin Butler will portray the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll himself in the untitled biopic under Warner Bros., which resumed filming in September after Luhrmann indefinitely suspended production in March when Hanks tested positive.
“All going well, we have a passionate conviction to be back here on the Gold Coast, picking up where we left off as soon as the time is right,” the director wrote in an official statement posted to Twitter. “In fact, we are not even taking our sets down, simply locking up the creative space over the next few days.”
