It’s been a busy year for comedian Tiffany Haddish. On Friday (April 6) — the same night that her cameo in Drake’s “Nice for What” video was revealed — the 38-year-old actress stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss her memoir The Last Black Unicorn, play the Wheel of Opinions, and address all those “Who Bit Beyoncé?” rumors.
She shared an anecdote from her memoir on being an “energy producer” for Bar Mitzvahs. “I produced energy. So I might tell jokes, I might emcee, choreograph routines, just get the party going,” she told Fallon.
During one Bar Mitzvah, the performer’s dances were somewhat lethal. Haddish shared that she was putting the moves on an older man — only to find out he passed away on the dance floor. It temporarily crushed her spirit. “My moves are killer, I got killer moves, I didn’t dance for months,” she said.
Shortly after, she got a letter from the man’s family, in which they thanked her, because dancing with Haddish was the happiest they had seen him. After that, she returned to the dance floor for six more years.
Haddish has been known to keep it real — so real that she has no qualms admitting that she will continue to wear the same white Alexander McQueen dress on multiple occasions. So when she and Fallon sat down to play Wheel of Opinions, she let audiences know how she really felt about a variety of topics — like grandma candies. “Them cheap strawberry candies that grandmas always have…it seems like because it’s shaped like a little strawberry, you think ‘ooh it’s gonna be delicious like a strawberry’ but then it just tastes like plastic and sugar,” Haddish said.
When Fallon finally asked “Who Bit Beyonce?”, Haddish stared at him and said “Uh uh, I’m supposed to be babysitting at Coachella next weekend, you not gonna have me messed up.” Haddish followed up by pinning the blame all on Fallon: “You know it was you. It was you, Jimmy.”
For anyone who was left curious about those killer moves, here’s Haddish dancing with Fallon to Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” for proof.
