The coaches panel for Season 15 of The Voice are no strangers to the spotlight, with powerhouse divas Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson joining Voice veterans, country star Blake Shelton and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine. But in a series of exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews, the star-studded panel gets a little more personal with some of their favorite musical moments.
Each coach shared their favorite collaboration, most fun song to perform live, and the first song they heard on the radio in the two-minute clip. Hudson and Levine immediately knew their answers, with the former American Idol picking her Hairspray Live! collaboration with Ariana Grande, “Come So Far,” and the Maroon 5 singer detailing the magic he made with Kanye West on 2005’s “Heard ‘Em Say.”
“Kanye had this thing that he had written and I had this hook that I had written,” he recalls. “It just worked out perfectly. It was awesome.”
As for live performances, Shelton shouted out the always-enthusiastic crowd reaction for “Boys ‘Round Here,” which makes it not only his favorite song to play, but the reason why he wanted to become a coach on The Voice in the first place. Clarkson went for her own anthemic tune, “Whole Lotta Woman,” which replaced her past fave “Miss Independent. Her reasoning? “Because why not?”
And no matter how successful the coaches of The Voice are in their own careers, none of them ever forget where they came from. The superstars reflected on the very beginnings of their careers, when they heard themselves on the radio for the first time, with Levine summing it up perfectly: “It was the coolest thing ever, ever, ever.”
The Voice airs on NBC Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET. Watch the exclusive video with the Voice coaches below.
