Singing competition show The Masked Singer returns for season 2 later this month, but not without each masked contestant giving fans a couple of clues as to who they are. Host Nick Cannon unveiled some details yesterday (Sept. 15) for what’s coming this season, including 140 films, 22 Broadway musicals, 22 gold records, 20 platinum records, six multi-platinum records, 31 Billboard No. 1 singles, 19 Emmy wins, 10 Grammy Awards, 10 Lifetime Achievement Awards and three Walk of Fame stars.
In the hour-long super sneak peek video, 15 characters disguised their voices to tell viewers important clues and show performance clips from their upcoming season. The 16th character remains a secret until Emmy night (Sept 22).
Here are the clues each new, elaborately masked star disclosed:
Skeleton said, “I’ve got a bone to pick with any contestant who thinks they’re going to win this competition.” The tombstone next to the mystery character had “4261” carved into it.

Fox noted their kind are “clever, strategic, and they’ll eat almost anything” — including this season’s competition. “What does the fox say? Good luck figuring me out,” Fox teased with a reference to the Ylvis’ viral No. 6-song “The Fox.”

Ice Cream gave fans not so much the scoop, but a taste of what is to come. “I may be sweet, but I’m here to lick the competition and ice cream float to the finale.… I’m made of sugar and dairy, and I live for half of February.” Ice Cream posed by the calendar page for the month of February, where two hearts were drawn under the 14th for Valentine’s Day.

Eagle was decked out in their “signature rock star outfit” consisting of a red bandana and sun medallion. While riding a motorcycle straight through the desert, Eagle hinted, “If you know an eagle body’s temperature, you may be hot on my trail.” According to Munsey’s Bear Camp in Alaska, an eagle’s average body temperature is 106 degrees Fahrenheit.

What Tree wears is inspired by 1950’s vintage pinup queens according to Cannon, but this mystery character is ultimately rooted in throwing shade. “I’m ready to light up on stage and leave the other singers in my shade,” the star said sassily while stressing its upcoming “delicious” performances.

Flamingo is not just pretty in pink, but “ready to flamin-go all the way and rock this competition ‘till my feathers fall off.” The star made up a clever hint about their identity: They love the mask as much as they love mascara. Another hint to who this is was the star’s “sneak beak” performance of “Lady Marmalade” by Labelle.

Butterfly fluttered onstage, later stating, “I’m flying high and ready to shake up the competition! I’m going to give my components butterflies in their stomachs. Are you ready to feel the butterfly effect?” With heavy wings covered in 10,000 hand-sewn sequins, Butterfly emphasized they “just pray I don’t fall over.”

Penguin marched into the competition with confidence: “I might be cold as ice, but I’m bringing the heat.” Clad in a fancy suit, Penguin teased the many, multi-colored hairdos they plan on rocking this season.

Leopard will pounce on their competition, warning, “When I stalk my prey, they never see it coming… and the creatures on this show won’t either. I’m ready to move meow-ntains with my spectacular purr-formances.” Leopard’s costume features an Elizabethan-style contour waist to specifically obscure the natural figure of this contestant. The show’s security reminded this star of the Secret Service because they have been “spotted with the President.” Fans can look out for anyone who’s appeared directly with President Donald Trump or on his show Celebrity Apprentice.

Egg threatened the other singers, “You’re going to be fried, scrambled, poached, beaten.” But they were nice enough to share some life advice: “As my mom always told me, life has an expiration date, so always work hard for the first and last vowels of the alphabet.” Egg isn’t a pro singer, but they are “pro team.”

Rottweiler is “here to be best in show…. I’m a total perfectionist, and I’m going to work my tail off to earn your puppy love.” With airbrushed abs to “create its signature hip-hop look,” Rottweiler spit a verse for the sneak peek: “America, roses are blue, violets are red, but do you have a clue who’s behind this doggy head?”
Flower will blossom “in every field I plant myself and I’m here to branch out, get it?” The number “314” was embedded in the flower bed behind them. “To put it delicately, I hope the audience loves me and loves them not… as much,” Flower joked.

Cannon referred to Thingamajig as “a spectacle with spectacles,” but the imaginary character called themselves a big deal. “Welcome to my Thingdom, where I will tower over the rest of the singers with my puzzling persona,” Thingamajig taunted. They specifically instructed fans not to call them “Chewbacca,” but left a hint that the two celebrate together. With the tallest costume ever on The Masked Singer with over 50,000 strands of hair, Thingamajig showed a snippet of his performance of Kacey Musgraves’ “Rainbow” on the show.
Panda may seem cute and cuddly, but they’re ready to start “total panda-monium on that stage. I’m paw-sitive I’ve got the moves and the energy to go all the way. And the victory will taste sweet, like bamboo… especially the way I prepare it.” This superstar might be talented in the kitchen.
Lastly, Black Widow is a fierce creature with a voice to match. “I’m here to crawl my way to the top and spin a web around the competition to win the golden mask.”
