Soul took center-stage last night (July 26) on FOX’s singing competition The Four: Battle for Stardom, as the show’s final four each delivered larger-than-life performances that left the audience speechless.
Last night’s show was kicked off with a flawless ode to The Jackson 5, as The Four — Ali Caldwell, JeRonelle McGhee, Leah Jenae and Sharaya J — were joined by season one finalist Zhavia Ward and season one winner Evvie McKinney for a medley of hits, including “I Want You Back.” The group was in perfect harmony, letting out explosive belt after belt, leaving all three judges no choice but to get up and dance along with them.
Unfortunately, things took a turn later in the night for Caldwell and McGhee, who did not make it to the Final Four after losing challenges to Whitney Reign and James Grahan, respectively.
Earlier in the night, Leah Jenae defended her spot against challenger Carvena Jones with a chill-inducing performance of “Focus” by H.E.R. that showcased her raw vocals and immense range.
Graham also chose to slow things down, with a surreal take on “Writing’s On The Wall” that could have given Sam Smith himself a run for his money — most notably, because of his glass-shattering falsetto notes.
At the end of the night, Graham, Jenae, Reign and Sharaya J were picked as the Final Four, who will face off against each other next week in the show’s finale.
