It may be summertime, but the living is definitely not easy for the Will, Mike, Eleven, Lucas, Max and Dustin in the first full trailer for season three of Netflix’s breakout thriller series Stranger Things.
The nearly three-minute sneak peak at the upcoming season — which drops on the fourth of July — opens to the strains of Mötley Crüe‘s iconic “Home Sweet Home” as the gang throws a surprise party for Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), who reacts with a jittery startle as he blinds Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) with a face full of hairspray in shock.
Moving from Halloween to the summer doesn’t appear to mean the gang will get any chill time, as Mike (Finn Wolfhard) laments, “We’re not kids anymore…I mean, what did you think? We’re just gonna sit in my basement all day and play games for the rest of our lives?” There is, however, work to do, as the show’s teenage stars trudge up a hill to the strains of The Who‘s “Baba O’Riley” to plant some kind of antenna and Billy (Dacre Montgomery) seems to be really enjoying his gig as a lifeguard.
There isn’t a whole lot of time to catch sun, though, as the trailer gives us quick glimpses of the haunted looks on the faces of Police Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), while the music builds to a peak and a night out at the amusement park turns into a nightmare. Plus, fireworks, Jazzercise and monsters, plenty of monsters.
