St. Vincent has some very sage advice for all you readers wasting your time with novels out there in the promo for this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, where she will take the stage for the second time alongside first-timer host Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah).
“Join us, won’t you, for some quality television,” says cast member Aidy Bryant in the clip. “TV is better than books, guys,” notes St. Vincent, rocking a 1970s chic outfit that includes green slacks, a silk white blouse, black blazer, oversized square shades and a jaunty neckerchief. “Put down the books and watch us on TV,” adds Kaluuya.
“Yeah, we all agree, we don’t know how to read, so, we’re good,” Bryant admits.
In the second video, Bryant puts a spin on Oscar nominee Kaluuya’s traditional introduction, “Hi, I’m Aidy Bryant and I’m cast membering SNL this week with host Daniel Kaluuya,” she says, which inspires St. Vincent to proclaim, “Hi, I’m St. Vincent and I’m musical guesting this week with cast member Aidy Bryant.”
On Sunday night (April 4), Kaluuya may pick up his first SAG Award for Judas and the Black Messiah. He is nominated for outstanding performance by a male actor in a supporting role.
Back in May 2014, St. Vincent made her SNL debut with performances of “Digital Witness” and “Birth in Reverse” on an episode that featured beloved former cast member Andy Samberg returning to the 30 Rockefeller Plaza stage for the first time as a host.
