If someone you know follows Reese Witherspoon on social media, you probably heard them scream out of excitement this morning (June 7). What initially appears as Reese enjoying some vacay time floating in a pool turns out to be a confirmation that fans have been waiting years for.
That’s right: Elle Woods will be returning to the big screen and our hearts in Legally Blonde 3. Witherspoon posted a video alluding to a well-known pool scene in the first film with the simple Instagram caption: “It’s true… #LegallyBlonde3.”

No word yet on an official release date, or what type of emotional roller coaster the third installment will take us on; last we left off with Elle, she had graduated from Harvard, actively pursuing a political career in Washington.
The first two films were released in 2001 and 2003 respectively, with the original starring Luke Wilson, Ali Larter and Victor Garber alongside Witherspoon.
