Orlando Bloom Zoomed into the Ellen show on Wednesday morning (Oct. 7) to talk about his adorable baby with Katy Perry and describe who Daisy Dove looks like. The only problem was that he couldn’t decide if she resembles him or the “Daisies” singer more.
“My little mini-me, slash-mini-my mom, slash-mini-Katy,” Bloom said of the couple’s first child, who was born in August.
Bloom said when he first met Daisy Dove Bloom he was sure she was a carbon copy of him, but then he had second thoughts. And when Ellen mentioned that she’d gotten a picture of the baby from Perry and she noticed that Daisy’s eyes resembled her famous mom’s, she asked Bloom what he thought.
“It was funny because when she first came out I was ‘Oh it’s me, it’s a mini-me!,'” he said. “Then fortunately she got those Katy blues which was perfect. But then she sort of looked a bit like my mom, so then I got a little bit confused because Katy’s breast feeding this mini-me slash my mom, slash… you know, who’s she going to look like next? It’s that kind of… you know what I mean?”
After a beat, Ellen suggested, “Maybe me.”
They also discussed the importance of singing and talking to babies in utero and DeGeneres asked if Bloom — who is a proponent of meditation — chanted to his little girl before she was born. “I chant Namu Myoho Renge Kyo, which is this Buddhist mantra I’ve had since I was 16,” he said, showing the host how he’d wake up every morning and whisper the chant. Now, when Daisy hears his voice Bloom said she “sort of soothes a bit” and when they’re walking around he’ll continue his “baby whisperer” routine to keep her calm.
And, so far, it seems to be working, since Bloom said she’s sleeping through the night, which he calls “a blessing.” Ellen also gifted the couple with a onesie covered in her face.
Bloom hung around to play a new game called “That’s Pinterest-ing,” in which they tried to figure out which Pinterest projects were successes or failures.
