Universal Pictures unveiled the latest trailer for the upcoming big screen adaptation of Cats on Tuesday (Nov. 19), and it’s safe to say the new teaser is positively purrrrfect.
In the clip, Old Deuteronomy (played by Judi Dench) lays out the premise for the film. “Tonight is a magical night where I choose the cat that deserves a new life,” she tells Francesca Hayward’s Victoria before Idris Elba‘s Macavity ominously warns, “Going to the ball could get dangerous.”
The trailer also features new footage of a showstopping musical number by Taylor Swift‘s Bombularina as the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical’s classic “Prologue: Jellicle Songs For Jellicle Cats” swells in the background.
Also starring Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella, Ian McKellan as Gus the Theatre Cat, Jason Derulo as Rum Tug Tugger, James Corden as Bustopher Jones and Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots, Cats is set to hit theaters nationwide on Dec. 20.
