Zooey Deschanel is about finding love in all the right places for her celeb friends in the new trailer for ABC’s Celebrity Dating Game. The former New Girl star and She & Him singer co-hosts the one-hour show with crooner Michael Bolton, who teased the upcoming debut with a 15-second clip on Wednesday (April 21).
“Let’s play the Celebrity Dating Game!” Deschanel says in her best game show voice to kick off the clip, which showcases the retro 1960s set with throwback graphics to a much groovier era. In a voice-over, the announcer says that Deschanel and Bolton will help Hollywood’s most eligible stars find love over laughing images of contestants Taye Diggs, Hannah Brown and Iggy Azalea.
“Because it’s about time someone started caring about the romantic lives of famous people,” Deschanel says with a wink. The show, slated to debut on June 14, will feature non-famous suitors trying to guess the secret identity of celebrity contestants based on clues, questions and parody performances by Bolton.
Bolton is also an executive producer on the Sony Pictures Television series. The original Dating Game ran on ABC from 1965-1973, primarily focusing on the non-famous, but also showcasing a few celebs, including Sally Field, Ron Howard and, in one particularly misguided effort, singer Dusty Springfield — as well as a few celebrities (Farrah Fawcett) before they were famous.
