He’s done rock, he’s done pop, but he’s never done hip-hop — until now. Michael Bolton, famed for his adult contemporary ballads in the ’80s and ’90s, went head-to-head with Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson on Lip Sync Battle for Thursday’s (March 22) episode. Although Davidson’s job is to make studio and television audiences laugh, Bolton gave the comedian a run for his money, taking the stage with Coolio’s 1995 hit “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
Decked out in a black tank top, track pants and a large gold chain, Bolton’s impressive recitation of one of the verses had co-host LL Cool J doubled over howling with laughter.
“That was awesome,” an impressed co-host Chrissy Teigen said of the 65 year old’s lip sync.
