Charlie Puth has already been “Quizzed” by Friends star Courteney Cox on Billboard’s video series two weeks ago, but he got a surprise visit from another Friends actress on Monday (Oct. 28): Jennifer Aniston.
Before performing his latest single “Mother” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Puth sat down with the talk show host to talk about his favorite sitcom. Earlier that day, Aniston had been sitting right where the 27-year-old artist was lounging, and it got him “shaking from excitement” because he had never met her before.
But DeGeneres decided to change that and brought out the Friends actress to the tune of the famous Friends theme song “I’ll Be There for You” by The Rembrandts.
The stunned singer got up from his seat to hug his idol, exclaiming, “This is so cool!” as she caressed his face. The two shared the same chair and landed Aniston in the hot seat before being interrogated about a Friends reunion.
“Listen, we would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is, so we’re just trying — we’re working on something,” she replied modestly.
The singer/songwriter was more than ready to jump on the potential reboot project, saying he could “do all the new music” including a duet with DeGeneres on the new version of the theme song.
The 61-year-old host didn’t want to lend her voice to the project but speculated Friends could turn into a blockbuster movie after Aniston’s viral Friends reunion selfie that jumpstarted her Instagram account.
“I don’t want to lead people on!” Aniston stuttered in defense.
