Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds will be taking the Sundance Film Festival in 2018. HBO Documentary Films has acquired U.S. TV rights to Believer, a documentary in which Reynolds investigates how the Mormon Church treats its LGBTQ members.
The Don Argott-directed film dives into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and how its condemnation of same-sex marriage played a role in a surge of teen suicides in Utah, according to Deadline. Reynolds, his wife and fellow musicians Aja Volkman and Neon Trees frontman Tyler Glenn will be featured. Reynolds, before his life in Imagine Dragons, was raised Mormon and became concerned about the faith’s limitations for LGBTQ members. He hopes Believer will help spread awareness and change.
Live Nation Productions produced the film and Oscar winner Hans Zimmer composed the score. Reynolds also wrote two original songs for the documentary, which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
