Fox is developing a new one-hour drama focused on country music. Think Dynasty with cowboy boots.
Hilfers’ current projects include a reboot of the thriller Jagged Edge at Sony with Halle Berry starring and Unfit at Amazon Studios with Dakota Johnson attached to star. Berman’s Sidecar will produce with Fox Entertainment.
Owen, Billboard’s 2018 Country Power Players executive of the year, executive produced, with Faith Hill and Lisa Erspamer, Pickler & Ben, as well as Showtime’s Tim & Faith: Soul2Soul, The Cooking Channel’s Kimberly’s Simply Southern and Shania Twain’s ABC-TV concert special, Shania: Still The One Live from Vegas.
The news comes as Fox’s series about a hip-hop dynasty, Empire, ends its six-season run following its current season.
Nashville, a sudsy nighttime drama about the country music industry, ran for six seasons starting in 2012, first on ABC and then CMT, and is largely credited for a boom in tourism to Music City.
If the new project gets the go-ahead, it will be cast and a pilot will be shot sometime after the new year.
