Netflix’s latest hit series Bridgerton cleverly embedded several pop hits within its eight episodes, and Lady Billboard is wondering which one you fancied the most!
Shonda Rhimes’ swoon-worthy period drama series takes place in Regency-era London, where debutantes from high society are presented in court during the season. The ever-mysterious Lady Whistledown (narrated by none other than Julie Andrews) plucks together the hottest gossip from every household for her scandalous newsletter that even the queen looks forward to reading. But Netflix viewers were most fascinated while listening to the excellent, yet totally-unsuitable-for-the-time-period covers of hit pop songs throughout the show, which were produced by the Vitamin String Quartet, Duomo and Emmy-winning composer Kris Bowers.
Ariana Grande‘s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “thank u, next” plays while Daphne Bridgerton and her family attend the Danbury ball in pursuit of her ideal marriage suitor following the queen’s and Lady Whistledown’s public praise of her. And after the eldest Bridgerton daughter schemes with the highly desirable but oh-so-unavailable steadfast bachelor Duke of Hastings to pretend to court, the two dance at their first official ball together to Shawn Mendes‘ “In My Blood.”
Lakeshore Records released the six-song EP Bridgerton – Music From The Netflix Original Series on Christmas, the same day the series arrived on Netflix.
So which smash hit-turned-string ballad that was presented to you would you note as this season’s “Incomparable”? Vote below!
