Like all other live events happening in 2020, the Eurovision song contest was canceled amid the coronavirus pandemic.
In place of what would have been Rotterdam’s Grand Final, the European Broadcasting Union and its Dutch Members NPO, NOS and AVROTROS will be airing a live show titled Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light this weekend.
The event will be hosted by Eurovision veterans Chantal Janzen and Edsilia Rombley, as well as Jan Smit, live from Hilversum in the Netherlands. The 2020 online host will be YouTube star NikkieTutorials.
According to the contest’s website, the show will honor the 41 selected delegates from the participating countries of 2020 in a non-competitive format. They will all also come together from their locations across Europe, to perform Eurovision 1997’s “Love Shine A Light” by Katrina and The Waves.
Additionally, the EBU will bring Eurovision fans together for a fun virtual sing-a-long of Johnny Logan’s “What’s Another Year.”
Catch all that and more on Saturday (May 16) at 3 p.m. EST/12 p.m. PST on Eurovision Song Contest’s YouTube channel.
