It is a well-established fact that Questlove is completely freaked out by magician David Blaine, and true to form, the Roots drummer ran and hid behind his tuba player on Wednesday night’s (Apr. 25)Tonight Show while Blaine was pulling off another one of his bizarre tricks.
Standing alongside Quantico actress Priyanka Chopra, Quest, bandmate Black Thought and host Jimmy Fallon looked on in shock as Blaine silently sewed his lips together with a needle and thread.
To be fair, the illusionist — best known for stunts like freezing himself in block of ice and regurgitating a goldfish on his last visit to the Tonight Show — had given the crew a choice of the needle and thread or a card trick.
Blaine made the choice for them, and as he threaded the needle through his lips three times to seal his mouth, his on-stage accomplices and the rest of the Roots completely lost it, with Chopra looking away and shaking her head: “Oh no, one more time?”
At last, Blaine silently took out a deck of cards and asked Chopra to pick one, pulling off the corner of a jack of clubs, which he asked Fallon to hold on to as the tension mounted.
