Blake Lively has made a name for herself in the acting world, starring in Gossip Girl, The Age of Adeline and most recently, her Anna Kendrick team-up A Simple Favor. But before she made it big in Hollywood, she had another entertainment-based path in mind.
“I sort of thought I was Baby Spice for a while,” Lively admitted to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show‘s special Central Park episode Thursday night (Sept. 13). “I still do. I’m a hoarder, so I still try to jam my feet into those shoes. I still have them, and I have the ‘Baby’ necklace.”
The shoes and necklace Lively is referring to were part of Baby Spice outfit that she wore to a Spice Girls concert 21 years ago, which recently surfaced thanks to a fan realizing she had a picture with Blake Lively Baby Spice, not Emma Bunton. Though Lively reposted the photo, she realized maybe her Baby Spice moment went a little differently than she recalls: “I always remember this moment where this little girl was just so excited to see me because she met Baby Spice, and then I saw the picture because this girl found it and she was really… nonplussed.”
But regardless of how the little girl felt, Lively’s Baby Spice moment came full circle when Bunton herself responded to the photo, which brought out the full-fledged fan girl within Lively.
“My only life goal as a kid was to marry Ricky Martin and meet all five Spice Girls,” Lively said. “I still haven’t accomplished that, but I can’t believe she knows who I am.”
Lively may get her chance to meet Baby Spice face-to-face in the somewhat near future, as Mel B (aka Scary Spice) just confirmed that the Spice Girls will be going on a reunion tour. While she didn’t say when, it has been reported that the superstar girl group — sans Victoria Beckham — will be playing 13 dates in the UK next year.
