The whole gang is back in the first peek at season 4 of AMC’s hit drama Better Call Saul. In the new 30-second teaser that dropped on Tuesday (July 2), everyone’s favorite temporarily disbarred lawyer, Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), is clearly keeping busy while he awaits his 10-month break from being the kind of lawyer you’re more likely to find on a bus bench ad than in a legal journal.
“Do you know why God made snakes before lawyers?,” a grinning McGill says to a room of hidden listeners. “He needed the practice.” That kind of reptile wisdom sets up the rest of the clip, in which McGill gleefully adds “strictly gainful employment and in 10 months, poof! I’m a lawyer again!” That sounds like a great plan, but of course Jimmy has started down a crooked path that will eventually lead to Breaking Bad favorite Saul Goodman.
From a run-in with hired gun Mike Ehrmantraut — who just wants some straight answers — to a warning from fearsome drug lord Gus Fring (“I decide what he deserves”), a bloodbath carried out by unseen killers, a glimpse Tuco Salamanca right hand man Nacho Varga and a tense showdown between Jimmy’s main squeeze, Kim Wexler, and her boss Howard Hamlin, the sneak promises plenty of the double-dealing action fans have come to know and love from the Bad spin-off.
Better Call Saul returns on Aug. 6 at 9 p.m. Watch the trailer below.
