Last week’s premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10 left fans asking a lot of questions: Who is going to slay in the competition? Who’s going to fade out? Why did Vanessa Vanjie Mateo repeat her name constantly while exiting the competition?
But one question that plagued many fans regarded Yuhua Hamasaki’s headdress she wore during her “Drag on a Dime” runway. Michelle Visage pointed out from the judges’ panel that it was an ankh, or the ancient Egyptian symbol for life representing both sexes.
The season 10 star took her look and made an entire comedic rap, “The Ankh Song,” about that very symbol. In her video, styled as a children’s educational television program and rapped to the tune of “Old MacDonald Had a Farm,” Hamasaki walks her audience through what the symbol means, while reminding them why she’s the best queen to walk through the doors on season 10.
“In its figure, the symbol of life/ Wisdom it comes with, now you got it right,” the star raps.
