Trixie Mattel has released “Moving Parts,” the first single from her upcoming album, One Stone. Mattel performed the track on yesterday’s premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3.
The track demonstrates to folk-singing drag queen’s autoharp abilities: “As the only drag queen folk musician, that might make me the best drag queen folk musician,” Mattel tells Billboard. “But Dolly Parton might count as a drag queen.“
Mattel also stopped by Billboard for a rapid-fire interview, along with her All Stars sisters Milk, BenDeLaCreme and Shangela. In her video interview, she talks about Kellyanne Conway, her jealousy of past winners and her first concert, a Jason Mraz show: “I remember this is around the time he was singing that one song and he had that trucker hat and his giant arms,” she shares, “and I was fully 15 and fully erect.”
Trixie’s debut EP, Two Birds, debuted at No. 16 on the Americana/Folk Albums chart. It also hit No. 2 on the Heatseekers Albums chart.
Mattel’s other television project, The Trixie and Katya Show on Viceland, returned this week as well. Though her co-star, Katya Zamolodchikova, has announced a drag hiatus, the network had previously taped new episodes.
