After performing her original verse of RuPaul’s “Category Is” on the season 9 finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Trinity the Tuck Taylor received a significant amount of criticism for her songwriting abilities. But the queen is ready to prove her haters wrong with her brand-new track “I Call Shade.”
The video for the track shows Trinity in what can only be described as ugly nerd drag, as she confesses to her diary how tired she is of being bullied in her fictional high school by her fellow Drag Race sisters, like Blair St. Clair, Yuhua Hamasaki, Thorgy Thor and more. “What am I gonna do?” she asks herself. “I know! I’m gonna take revenge … right after my chemistry class.”
For the remainder of the video, Trinity methodically knocks each of the popular queens off their respective pedestals, through varying methods of absurd revenge including laxatives, blackmail, electrocution and a simple push down the stairs. For the cherry on top, the Florida superstar emerges with a beautiful, fishy look, stepping over the bodies of her foes as a professorial Peppermint spits a verse telling her to “go for the kill.”
This won’t be the only verse we hear from The Tuck on Friday (Feb. 15): The drag star is competing for the crown in tonight’s finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4. The queens’ final challenge, as in seasons past, is to craft their own verse to a RuPaul song (this season, the queens will perform to “Super Queen”), along with nailing their sickening choreography. With the best track record on the show, will Trinity be able to take home the crown?
