It’s a bittersweet time to be a fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race. With the finale of All Stars 5 airing this Friday, fans are excited to see the conclusion of the latest installment in the franchise, but are also left wondering when they’ll get to see more Drag Race, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic bringing all new productions to a halt.
Now, fans have an answer. On Friday, Aug. 21, VH1 will be rolling out RuPaul’s Drag Race: Vegas Revue, a brand new six-part docuseries following the lives of six Drag Race alums as they prepare to put on the live drag show of a lifetime in Las Vegas with RuPaul’s Drag Race Live.
The show, featuring former contestants Yvie Oddly, Asia O’Hara, Derrick Barry, Kameron Michaels, Naomi Smalls and Vanessa “Vanjie” Mateo, will follow the queens as they prepare, rehearse and eventually put on a massive drag spectacle in Vegas. “Everything that we’ve worked for, the payoff is now,” Barry says in the show’s official 20-second trailer.
“‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: Vegas Revue’ brings viewers behind the scenes of a jaw-dropping live stage show as it launches on the world famous Las Vegas strip,” VH1’s official synopsis of the show reads. “The series gives fans a deeper look into the lives of their favorite queens as they showcase the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent it takes to pull off groundbreaking performances in front of a live audience.”
Fans will get to see a sneak peak of the new show during Friday’s (July 24) finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5. RuPaul’s Drag Race: Vegas Revue will premiere Friday, August 21 at 8 p.m. ET on VH1. Check out an official trailer below:
