Get ready for a drag-stravaganza this holiday season — RuPaul has tucked something special in your stockings just in time for Christmas.
While fans clamor for the next season of Drag Race, on Thursday (Nov. 1), VH1 announced an hourlong holiday-themed special, appropriately titled RuPaul’s Drag Race Holi-Slay Spectacular, set to air Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
The Holi-Slay Spectacular will reunite eight fan-favorite queens — Eureka O’Hara, Jasmine Masters, Kim Chi, Latrice Royale, Mayhem Miller, Shangela, Sonique, and Trixie Mattel — as they vie for the special honor of being America’s first “Drag Race Christmas Queen.”
The festive holiday episode promises a whole lot of Christmas cheer — the eight queens will lip-sync to RuPaul’s holiday albums, including his new Christmas Party. To really deck the halls for the holidays, Drag Race favorite Todrick Hall will return to choreograph some festive routines and serve on the judging panel.
“Nothing says Christmas like ‘Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, and drag queens slipping on their pantyhose,'” says RuPaul. “Celebrating the holidays with my most festive girls inspired me to record my new album, Christmas Party. And this VH1 holiday extravaganza is my way of saying thank you to my Drag Race family by spreading a little bit of love, laughter and light across the country and around the world.”
