RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4 has crowned its winner — or should we say winners? For the first time ever, the show declared two champs: Monét X Change and Trinity the Tuck have taken the title and are now both inducted into the hall of fame alongside previous All Stars winners Trixie Mattel, Alaska and Chad Michaels.
“When faced with the difficult decision of which queen deserved to win, the words of the great philosopher, Michelle Visage, popped into my head: It takes two to make a thing go right. It takes two to make it out of sight,” RuPaul said in a statement. “Not only are Monét X Change and Trinity The Tuck the best of the best, together they can spread their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent wider, faster and further than ever before. Long Live Drag Race!”
Tonight, the top four competitors: Naomi Smalls, Monét X Change, Monique Heart and Trinity the Tuck battled it out in a musical challenge. The queens were tasked with writing and performing new verses to RuPaul’s track “Super Queen,” complete with demanding choreography courtesy of Todrick Hall.
After the judges deliberated, Monét and Trinity were selected as the season’s top two, effectively eliminating Naomi and Monique from the competition. The duo then duked it out in a lip sync battle to Christina Aguilera’s empowerment anthem “Fighter.” After the lip sync performance, Ru made the decision to crown them both.
“Long live the sponge, Michelle,” cheered Monét, who was criticized for overdoing it with her sponge schtick. Trinity seemed to already know where her $100,000 paycheck would go: “Girl, money can’t buy everything but it sure can buy a lot of plastic surgery. Botox, here I come!”
RuPaul’s Drag Race returns for its eleventh season later this month, on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 9 p.m. on VH1. Miley Cyrus has been announced as a guest judge for the premiere episode.
