RuPaul Charles has shown the world that he is a queen of many talents. Whether he’s hosting his own world-famous reality show, making music, acting, modeling or even selling products, the 57-year-old icon has spent his career exploring every possible avenue available to him.
Among his many professions, Ru is an author, and today he revealed the cover for his upcoming lifestyle and self-help book, GuRu. In an interview with People, Ru said that the book is “a talisman, a guidebook for living. [It’s] a collection of meaningful phrases and quotes that have helped me navigate the chaos of modern life.”
This is not RuPaul’s first endeavor as an author: The Drag Race host wrote his autobiography Lettin’ It All Hang Out back in 1995, along with Workin’ It, his 2010 book where he offered tips to readers on beauty, style and drag.
Along with offering helpful advice about life in the modern world, GuRu will feature over 80 photos of RuPaul throughout his career, some of which, he said, have never been seen before. “I hope that fans will use the book for inspiration,” he said. “It offers beauty, but also advice, insight and attitude. It’s more than just a bunch of pretty pictures.”

The drag star also told People that much of the book has to do with leaving judgment and closed-mindedness behind in order to lead a better life. “We are spiritual beings having a human experience, he said. “If we approach the experience without judgment, we can open up a vast vista of unlimited colors, textures, shapes and ideas.”
