When Gus Kenworthy and his boyfriend Matt Wilkas attended the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty on Sunday (March 4), they knew they would be rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Yet, the two were utterly starstruck when they encountered singer Ricky Martin and his husband Jwan Yosef.
Their encounter only lasted for a few moments, before Martin and Yosef disappeared into the crowd. But Kenworthy decided to use the power of the Internet to try and reunite with pair. He took to Instagram, dedicating an entire post to Martin and Yosef in the style of a Craigslist “missed connections” post entitled “Living La Vida Lonely.”
*Craigslist Missed Connections* Living La Vida Lonely – m4m (LA, California) Us: We were wearing black Ralph Lauren tuxedos, mine had little cowboys on it. You: You were also both wearing tuxedos because… well, because it was the Oscar’s and everybody does. You and your husband stood out though. Partly because you’re both gorgeous but also because you’re literally @ricky_martin & @jwanyosef. The four of us chatted and laughed but then, sadly, got separated in the chaos of the Oscar’s. My bf and I searched for you both for the rest of the night but never found you again. In town for a week. Let’s connect. . Pics taken by @mlcoppola & @jonkop415 for @gettyentertainment
“My bf and I searched for you both for the rest of the night but never found you again,” the skier wrote. “In town for a week. Let’s connect.”
So when Martin made an appearance on The Talk, host Julie Chen asked him about Kenworthy’s post. “That is so cute and clever,” he said laughing. “He is a national hero, give me a break. Are we flattered? Yes we are!”
Martin also added that he was open to Kenworthy’s suggestion; “We will definitely connect, Gus. I love you, brother.”
