As the Democratic primary continues to make national headlines, voters everywhere have been left scratching their heads wondering which of the remaining candidates has the best chance to defeat President Donald Trump in the general election. Just in time for Super Tuesday, internet sensation Randy Rainbow thankfully has a simple answer: any of them.
On Tuesday (Mar. 3), Rainbow released his latest parody, this time aimed at Democratic voters. The clip opens with Rainbow serving as the faux moderator of the recent South Carolina Democratic debate, where he questions each of the candidates on stage, including recent dropouts Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar and Tom Steyer, along with remaining candidates Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden and Mike Bloomberg.
As the debate devolves into chaos, Rainbow’s inner monologue comes out in the form of two songs from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s 1982 Broadway musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Staring at the candidates on stage, Rainbow reworks the lyrics to “Any Dream Will Do,” as he comes to a conclusion about who he’s voting for: “Here’s my motto/ Any Dem will do.”
Rainbow proceeds to point out each of the candidates’ flaws to the tune of “Joseph’s Coat,” but ultimately urges his audience to quit bickering and unite behind whoever wins the nomination in order to oust Trump. “But don’t let their silly quirks make you act like silly jerks/ Tell the Bloomberg buffs and Bernie brothers/ If they’re out, pick any of the others.”
In one final push to drive his point home, Rainbow goes out of his way at the song’s end to let people know that, come November, they should cast their vote for literally “anyone alive and breathing” instead of Trump, listing off some creative entries, like Oprah, a mailbox, your dog, or even Elmo, just as long as it’s “anyone blue.”
