It’s become clear that there is almost no political subject that YouTube parody singer Randy Rainbow won’t tackle. In the past, the star has taken on immigration, Russian meddling, North Korea, and his favorite subject, President Donald Trump.
Today (April 2), Rainbow released a new song in which he chose U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos as his latest target for “Cruella DeVos,” a parody of the 1961 101 Dalmations track “Cruella De Vil.”
While roasting the secretary, Rainbow gradually morphs into the Disney film’s villainess, donning her iconic black-and white bob with a fur coat and cigarette holder.
The video opens with Rainbow presiding over DeVos’ recent hearing in front Congress, in which she defended her department’s controversial decision to make drastic cuts, including a complete elimination of funding for the Special Olympics. “Really?” Rainbow asks DeVos in disbelief. “Wow, you’re going to hell.”
Rainbow then launches into his rendition of the track, specifically taking aim at DeVos’ intelligence, perceived cruelty, elitism and ruthlessness, at one point even admitting that there’s not enough time to touch on everything. “This song’s too short to list all of the flaws/ Of Bets — I mean, Cruella DeVos,” Rainbow sings.
