As millions of Americans anxiously await their turn to receive their COVID-19 vaccines, internet star Randy Rainbow is checking in with the president to see how the campaign for countrywide vaccination is going.
On Tuesday (March 9), Rainbow unveiled his latest parody video, “Mr. Biden (Bring My Vaccine).” At the video’s start, Rainbow is back to his usual setup — in a faux interview with President Joe Biden to see how his job is going. From the jump, Rainbow is a bit out of his element with the new administration, asking the president, “Could you, maybe at some point, just, like, curse or say something completely looney tunes or offensive? The other guy used to do that, and it just made this whole thing a little funnier.”
Soon enough, though, the singer is back in his bag with a song — set to the tune of The Chordettes’ 1954 single “Mr. Sandman.” Rainbow implores President Biden to do whatever it takes to roll out the vaccine to as many Americans as possible. “Please bring me J&J or Pfizer or Moderna, I won’t care/ It’s been one whole year since I’ve worn pants and underwear,” he sings in gorgeous four-part harmony.
Eventually, Rainbow tributes the original quartet by introducing “The Robinettes” (a play on President Biden’s middle name), who pine for a world where they can get back to their normal lives. “Mr. Biden, bring my vaccine/ I wanna trick-or-treat when we hit Halloween,” Rainbow sings. “Gimme that double dose and make me go ‘ouchy’/ So I can plant a kiss on Dr. Fauci!”
According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 9.4% of all Americans have been fully vaccinated, while 18.4% have received their first dose. President Biden recently announced that the U.S. will have produced enough COVID-19 vaccines for every adult in the country by the end of May.
