Lizzo dropped by SiriusXM Hits1 on Tuesday (April 9) to perform an acoustic cover of “Shallow” from A Star Is Born.
The rising rapper/singer is the latest star to tackle the Oscar-winning duet between Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, putting a unique solo spin on the track accompanied by just an acoustic guitar.
Dressed in a strappy black top, oversized black jacket and gold beaded skirt, Lizzo belted out Gaga’s wailing bridge with soulful fervor, deviating from the song’s melody with her own ad libs and quavery riffs.
Lizzo’s third full-length studio album, Cuz I Love You, is slated for release April 19 on Nice Life/Atlantic and was preceded by the retro-inspired funk-pop single “Juice.” Check out her performance of “Shallow” below.
