Hot off the heels of their first Grammy win, Gavin Rayna Russom and Nancy Whang — the synth maestros behind the Grammy-winning dance-punk outfit LCD Soundsystem — are embarking on a co-headlining DJ tour this October.
Fittingly dubbed Ladies of LCD Soundsystem, the monthlong tag-team tour will kick off in Salt Lake City on Oct. 18, taking them through 16 other venues before the tour closes in Los Angeles on Nov. 30. More dates are set to be added.
The duo promises to spotlight local women and non-binary musicians as opening acts at each leg of their tour. A dollar from each ticket sale will be donated to RAINN and their 24/7 sexual assault survivor hotline.
Russom, who identifies as a trans woman, came out in an interview with Grindr’s Into last June. American Dream, LCD Soundsystem’s long-awaited comeback album, was released in September, nabbing them their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and a Best Dance Recording Grammy for “Tonite.”
Tickets for Salt Lake City, Ferndale, Miami, Athens, St. Charles and Portsmouth are on sale today (Aug. 23), while tickets for Seattle, San Diego, Chicago, Louisville, Dallas, Austin, Denver, San Francisco and Los Angeles go on sale next Thursday (Aug. 30.)
