Pop star Kim Petras has always been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ community throughout her career. Now, she’s giving back in the best way she knows how.
On Thursday (August 29), Equality California announced that Petras would be giving a special performance at their 20th anniversary Los Angeles Equality Awards, making this her first-ever performance at a charity event.
The evening’s main honoree will be Transparent creator and executive producer Jill Soloway, who will be receiving the organization’s equality visibility award for their continued representation for transgender characters on the silver screen. Other honorees will include law firm Latham & Watkins, LLP and attorney Amy Quartarolo, who will receive the community leadership award for their continued work fighting for LGBTQ rights through their pro bono work.
“We’re so excited to honor Jill for their transformative work increasing representation of transgender and nonbinary people on television and empowering a generation of LGBTQ artists,” said Equality California’s executive director Rick Zbur in a statement. “We can’t wait to celebrate our 20th anniversary with so many of our most generous supporters from the last two decades — it’s going to be a wonderful evening.”
