Kim Petras took to the stage during 2018’s GLAAD Gala San Francisco, which honors LGBTQ people and allies who foster support for the LGBTQ community through their work with technology and media, on Saturday (Sept. 15).
Petras graced the stage to perform “Heart to Break” and new single “All the Time” while underscoring the significance of GLAAD’s advocacy work.
“I really love GLAAD. What you guys are doing is really, really important,” she said to the honored guests, including presenters and attendees Michelle Visage, Mj Rodriguez, Alyson Stoner and Josie Totah. “Grew up a trans kid in Germany, moved to L.A. at, like, 19, hustled really hard to, you know, make something out of myself and hopefully, one day, protect trans kids.”
Hosted by Leslie Jordan, the fete honored Alyssa Milano with the inaugural Ariadne Getty ally award for her impactful allyship work for the LGBTQ community. Ross Matthews and Emil Wilbelkin, former editor-in-chief of Vibe and editor-at-large at Essence, were awarded for advancing queer acceptance through their work on TV and new media, respectively.
