Romantic teen drama Love, Simon brought young LGBTQ representation to the big screen when the film hit theaters earlier this year. Last night (June 18), Keiynan Lonsdale, who plays the secret admirer of the film, stole hearts again when he accepted the award for “Best Kiss” at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.
Though co-star Nick Robinson couldn’t attend the event, Lonsdale, stunting a glittering white and gold gown, shared an inspiring message on both of their behalf about living with unabashed authenticity.
“I just want to say to every kid, you can live your dreams and wear dresses,” Lonsdale said. “You can live your dreams and kiss the one that you love no matter what gender they are. You can live your dreams and you can believe in magic. You can live your dreams and you can be yourself.”
