On Sunday night (June 25), Kehlani took the stage at San Francisco Pride festival to perform her headline set — or, unfortunately, what turned out to be just about half of it. The singer’s microphone and music were cut off five songs short of her full set.
In the middle of performing “What I Need” with surprise guest Hayley Kiyoko, the sound suddenly stopped. After a few attempts to rally the crowd, the singer was forced the end the show.
Following the incident, Kehlani took to Twitter to clarify what happened to her followers, stating that having to start the show 30 minutes late led the festival management to stop the show early as to abide by the curfew laws of the city.
san francisco pride just cut our sound system and mic off half way through my set with 5 more songs to perform. i love you bay area, but fuck that shit man.

The artist continued, tweeting: “SF Pride staff been rude all day. didn’t expect any of this. don’t wanna cause a situation because i really care about this community but stay away from Pride if your heart isn’t in it. san francisco deserved better today. & the cops are out fully strapped …get. home. safe.”
In addition to Kiyoko, Kehlani had welcomed up-and-coming rappers Kidd Kenn and Drebae and one adorably young fan to the stage.
