
Last month, Long Island-based electronic dance artist Kandy came out publicly.
“It’s very scary to come out in a field in music that’s dominated by straight men,” Kandy told Billboard. “You don’t know if they’re gonna treat you differently. You don’t know if people are going to support your music the way that they used to. So I wanna be the person that lets people working to be big-name producers know that it’s OK to be yourself.”
To celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month, the artist — who has seen support from Diplo and released his latest single, “Feelin’ KNT,” on Mad Decent — curated a playlist to help soundtrack the festivities.
“I wanted to create a Pride playlist not only dedicated to queer artists and allies, but to music that I actually enjoy and listen to daily,” Kandy said. “Pump this in the gym, the car, the shower or if you just want to feel fierce. There is something in here for everyone!”
