Queer Eye grooming extraordinaire Jonathan Van Ness celebrated the 70th Annual Creative Arts Emmys with some glamour and a new partner. Taking to Instagram to share the look, Van Ness was clothed in an amazingly sparkly dress complete with a dramatic thigh split and a sheer top. Van Ness, in the same post, casually introduced his new boyfriend, Wilco Froneman, to the public, leaving the Internet aflutter in one fell swoop.
Earning nods for Gay of Thrones, his Game of Thrones recapping web series, and taking home three Emmys for Queer Eye, the night was a resounding success for Van Ness, even as snarky commenters shared rude and transphobic comments about his look. (One Instagram user commented that “the guy in the dress” resembled “the villain in despicable me 3.”)
Van Ness refused to let the commenter go off scot-free, responding back in the most deliciously biting way: “I look f–king stunning and my name is Jonathan, snap chat filter using on your tiny circle private profile having self.”
Fans were quick to rally at his side. Here’s a selection of our favorite responses to Van Ness’ incredible outfit, plus the original post:

It appears that @jvn’s Emmy’s look has won fashion. No one need try anymore, there’s no competition to be had. pic.twitter.com/MbUHvpmCYV
