After teaming up last year for their upbeat electronic dance track “Play,” Jax Jones and Years & Years released the song’s music video on Monday (Jan. 28). The entire video takes place on a supersize grocery store conveyor belt filled with giant boxes of cereal, huge vegetables and neon lights flashing all around.
“Play” opens with Jones working a checkout counter at a store, when suddenly he and Years & Years singer Olly Alexander are shrunk down in size. The duo find themselves on a humongous conveyor belt where they begin showing off their best dance moves, all while avoiding gigantic groceries.
The track dropped last year and it was a stellar collaboration that both artists had a ton of fun working on. Jones in particular commended Alexander’s voice and was excited to feature his vocals.
“Olly’s got one of those unique voices,” Jones said. “He commands your attention as soon as you hear him sing — be’s a compelling artist.”
Alexander also shared his love for the track, praising Jones’ arrangement and the song’s infectious beat.
“I liked the idea of a track that could make you fall in love,” he said. “You’re so obsessed with hearing it that it’s like you’ve been hypnotized — I wanna hear that song!”
