Lauren Jauregui’s long-awaited debut single “Expectations” went above and beyond everyone’s…you know. Now, her closest friends are weighing in.
Hours after “Expectations” dropped, Halsey took to Twitter yesterday (Oct. 24) to drum up support for the song and express her gratitude for her “best friend.”
“Lauren is so special because best friend or not, her music would still be exactly what I need in the moment and it gives me goosebumps,” the “Bad at Love” singer wrote. “It’s just even better that I’m lucky enough to know and love her.”
The dynamic duo isn’t shy in professing their adoration for one another. After their lovers-not-fighters duet “Strangers” was released last year on Halsey’s second album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, marking Jauregui’s first appearance on the Hot 100 as a solo artist, Jauregui embarked on the South American leg of the Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Tour with Halsey earlier this year. (Jauregui actually debuted “Expectations” during the tour.)
“Ash [Frangipane, aka Halsey] is an amazing friend, and she’s been so supportive,” said Jauregui in an interview with Billboard’s Pop Shop Podcast when she was asked about her creative partnership with Halsey. “And anytime girls are supportive of each other, that’s something that makes my heart glow. I didn’t write my verse [on that song], but the reason I didn’t write my verse is because I respect her so much as a female songwriter.”
