It’s been a long time since up-and-comer Greyson Chance stunned his sixth-grade classmates and became a viral sensation with his cover of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi.” Since then, the 21-year-old singer has put together his own solo pop career, along with falling in and out of love, as he makes clear on his new song.
Chance released “Timekeeper,” the final single from his hotly anticipated new album Portraits, on Friday (March 8). The slick new track serves as a letter of sorts to Chance’s ex, as the star bitterly promises to remind him of what their relationship was really like. “No, this ain’t the end, no, I’m not dissuaded by your demeanor/ And if you forget, the memories fade, I’ll be your timekeeper,” he sings.
The star took to Twitter just before the release of his song, cheekily adding that he definitely wants his previous partner to hear the new track. “‘Timekeeper’ .. a song about the boy who pissed me off the most last year & coincidently my favorite track to dance to off my album,” he said, announcing the song. “I hope my ex listens to timekeeper and hates it lollll.”
