Kevin McHale has been causing a stir among his fans for the past few months. After he posted a picture on Instagram of him holding someone’s hand with an emoji of the ASL sign for “I love you,” users started speculating that the former Glee star was dating a guy.
McHale confirmed the rumors about his sexuality early Friday morning (April 20) in a series of tweets about Ariana Grande’s brand-new single “No Tears Left to Cry.” In a thread, the actor said the song “is gayer than me,” the first time he has directly referenced his sexuality publicly.
#NoTearsLeftToCry is gayer than me and I ACCEPT. Ty @ArianaGrande.

The admission came as almost no surprise to his fans — along with his original Instagram post, the Glee star released a selfie of him snuggling up to actor Austin McKenzie last week, who fans believed to be the boy he’s dating. McHale and McKenzie had been spotted in public numerous times together, seemingly confirming fans’ suspicions.
Along with his tweet, McHale offered up a piece of advice for Grande: After giving her new song unbridled praise, he suggested that the singer team up with none other than Janet Jackson for a new version of the song. “I’d like to request a remix with @JanetJackson,” he wrote. “ty for ur time.”
I’d like to request a remix with @JanetJackson. ty for ur time. @ArianaGrande
