Gay Agenda is a column for Billboard Pride where we run down a few fab things at the start of each week. Between new tracks, music videos and pop culture moments, we want our readers to be prepared for happy hour kikis and water cooler conversation.
1. Oprah Winfrey Network personality Ruba serves up a series of fierce fashions in his seductive new video for “Wide Receiver.” If his stud of a co-star (Marco DelVecchio) looks familiar, it’s because he appeared in the telenovela sequence at the start of Camila Cabello’s video for mega-hit “Havana.”
2. Producer turned singer-songwriter Robokid has released his debut EP Apart via Moving Castle. The five tracks juxtapose Robokid’s almost-emotionless vocal delivery against his most intimate lyrics to date — making for a truly satisfying listen. Check out standout “Worth It” below.
3. Aussie darlings Cub Sport released a stunner of a video for their hazey track “Good Guys Go.” The moody, retro-inspired clip finds lead singer Tim Nelson posing in front of a classic Mercedes; it’s the unabashedly queer homage to Drive we didn’t know we needed.
4. L.A.-based singer-songwriter Terra Naomi has released “Machine Age,” a poignant reflection on Trump’s first year in office. The track captures Naomi’s post-election outrage, but also tackles an issue closer to home: upon the announcement of their wedding, her husband’s family announced they could not partake because they saw her husband, a transgender man, as female and their religion does not support same-sex marriage. Proceeds of the track will be donated to GLAAD, among other organizations.
5. You betta vote! With the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3 airing Thursday (Jan 25), it’s time to start guessing who’s going to take the crown. Take Billboard Pride’s polls on who you want to win — and who you think will win — here.
6. Gay bae Sakima leant his smooth vocals to a new team-up with frequent collaborators AOBeats and Satica, titled “The Wave.” The snappy track seamlessly meshes upbeat, jazzy verses with a slow-motion R&B-infused hook.
