Valentine’s Day, especially for those in relationships, is meant to be a holiday celebrating and uplifting the love you feel for another person. But for some, especially the single, it’s an overbearing reminder of bad relationships, disappointing dates and loneliness. Luckily, pop upstart Fletcher is here to represent the latter.
The up-and-coming pop star released a new video on Wednesday for her song “Undrunk,” a scathing breakup anthem about wishing you were never with your former flame. “Wish I could get a little un-drunk so I could un-call you/ At 5 in the morning, I would un-fuck you,” she seethes.
The video cuts between grainy film clips of the singer with her former lover, and a modern-day Fletcher re-creating those same memories, but without the stain of her ex. Whether it’s a day at the beach or just hanging out at home, the singer combs through her memories to erase her ex’s influence.
“Undrunk” has become Fletcher’s most successful song to date in just a matter of weeks — she scored her first-ever entry on the Billboard Pop Songs airplay chart this week, as “Undrunk” made its debut at No. 31., along with racking up more than 1 million Spotify streams in the two weeks since the song’s release.
