While Fab the Duo members Greg Driscoll and Brendan Eprile may be boyfriends in real life, the two know what it means to be single — and they want to help their fans learn to love it.
In their new video for “No Prince Charming” (premiering below), Fab the Duo team up with Love & Hip Hop: New York star Mariahlynn to teach a lesson in self-love. The clip opens with a woman walking in on her cheating boyfriend, and proceeding to breakdown in the next room. But the Duo and Mariahlynn show up just in time to give her the makeover she needs to get back out on the town and live her best life. “I don’t need no Prince Charming to save me, save me/ I don’t need a dragon just to slay,” they sing.
The vibe of the track is new for Fab the Duo, whose previous two singles have seen the pair doling out soulful, R&B style harmonies. “No Prince Charming,” on the other hand, falls squarely into the pop category, with the pair switching between a catchy chorus and some playful rap verses.
“The last two singles were primarily written by Brendan, while this one was written by Greg,” they tell Billboard in an exclusive statement. “We wanted to show the fun and sassy side of us that people have been waiting for. While this song is a different genre than the others, the heart and message of Fab remains.”
As for their collaboration with Mariahlynn, Driscoll and Eprile recall offering her the guest spot via email, expecting her to never respond. “Within an hour or so we got an email back saying she wants to jump on the track,” they say. “It was definitely one of the coolest things to ever happen to us. To have someone of her caliber believe in us and our music is something we don’t take for granted.”
